Non Glare Glass

Non glare glass glass is float glass with either one or both sides acid etched. This diffuses the reflection giving the glass a matt appearance. This is useful when your art is to be hung in harsh lighting conditions, either near a window or directly under artificial lights such as spotlights. The surface of the glass diffuses the reflection thus making the image easier to see.

This type of glass can reduce colour intensity slightly and so is not suitable for a picture with bright or vivid colouring. It can also reduce image clarity to a small degree which makes it unsuitable for frames where there is to be more than a single mount over the image. This is because as the diffused glass is separated from the image a certain amount of optical distortion occurs.

As with float glass there is a slight darkening effect and the protection against ultra violet light is also limited.
